New Mexico, USA

Just wrapped up a wild weekend on the Chama Charmer route along the Continental Divide, and whew, what a ride! Between storms, hail, blowdowns, standing water, and that classic peanut butter mud, this one had it all. What started as a fun weekend bikepacking trip quickly turned into a full-on lesson in perseverance. There’s type 1 fun, type 2 fun… and at times this felt like type 20 fun. Through all of it, I was reminded: I can do really hard things.

I meet these two crazy gringos during my journey through Patagoina. I was escaping from the rain when they invited me to go off road with them through the route 41 in Argentina. Together, we shared an amazing moment and fought against the Patagonian elements. Alone, it wouldn’t have been possible. Big thanks to Emely and Erick.

My wife Debbie and I with our great friends Rob and Sarah headed out last weekend and bikepacked part of the Deeside Way, leaving from and returning to Ballater, taking in the stunning route by loch Muick, Lochnagar, Balmoral Estates, and the Linn of Dee. The weather provided a typically Scottish weekend of beautiful sunshine, heavy rain, wind, and moments of peace. Rob had marked out some stunning camping spots beside lochs, rivers, and in the mountains, adding to the joy of the weekend. It was exhilarating, exhausting, and breathtaking, and sharing it with friends made it all the better.
