Norfolk, UK

Weekend Snapshot

Just over a year ago, we moved home, and the Rebellion Way bikepacking route passes right by our front door. It was about time I got out and actually rode the winding route around the county. It visits many of Norfolk’s historical sites, in particular those linked to two rebellions over the years: Kett’s rebellion of 1549 and that of Boudicca’s Iceni tribe in around AD 60. The 370-kilometre route is a mixture of quiet country lanes, sandy tracks, and plenty of rural charm.

We did a recent weekend trip to take advantage of the last days before the cold settles in the Marche region of Italy. Full of great natural sites and medieval cities (like Urbino, pictured), it’s a place we’ll definitely be coming back to next year.
