Welcome back to another edition of Weekend Snapshot, our Monday morning series featuring reader-submitted photos from all around the world. This time around, we catch up with riders in three corners of Europe, who bring us along for quick getaways through the mountains in Switzerland, along gravel trails in the UK, and past stunning lakes in Spain. A shot from a weekend spent riding the Lincoln Gravel Imp route as found here on BIKEPACKING.com. A bumper spring has led to plenty of overgrown tracks with grasses and nettles whipping our legs, snatching handle bar ends, and grabbing brake levers. But a week of high temperatures and little rain meant many of the trails were dusty, hard packed, and fast flowing.

It was a sporadic overnighter to a nameless mountain close to my home with beautiful 360-degree view and a perfect spot to pitch a tent. At just 16 kilometres, the ride was fairly short, but it had a hefty 1,200 vertical metres of climbing and was worth the effort. I’ll let the picture speak for itself.

On Wednesday afternoon, I got a surprise request from my husband, who asked me to book ferry tickets to mainland Spain. I asked “Who’s going?” With a big smile, he answered “We’re going, with the bikes!” Then he showed me the route, and I started to prepare for my first bikepacking trip ever. The first day was hard, but the nature was impressive, and riding through deserted villages felt like going back in time. Over the next two days, the scenery just got more and more beautiful.
