The autumnal colors are in full effect in the Northern Hemisphere, and this morning’s edition of Weekend Snapshot showcases a lovely display of greens, yellows, oranges, and browns from three countries. Find reader-submitted vignettes from meandering bikepacking journeys in Canada and two corners of Europe below, then keep scrolling to find a quick form you can use to share a shot from a recent ride, followed by some related posts for further reading.
Manitoba, Canada

The TransCanada Trail through Whiteshell Provincial Park is in fine autumnal form right now. The bugs are quieter and the river otters, lynx, and beavers are all getting ready for winter. We had a beautiful and serene week. Navigating to and from Winnipeg on a variety of bike trails, gravel country roads, and quiet service roads meant a zero-emissions trip.
Hallingdal, Norway

A lovely Sunday ride in Norway. The combination of old farming traditions and modern hydropower infrastructure enables great gravel riding in Norway. Here is a shot my girlfriend took as I’m coasting into the old summer mountain pasture, Djup.
Bavaria, Germany

I created this route in my backyard and called it “Vaddamorgana: The Flat Surprise.” It’s a chill weekender that is easily doable for almost any kind of bike, has lots of bathing spots, places to get good food, and not too many climbing in the Bavarian Alps. Basically, it’s everything you want to experience in a late summer weekender with some of your best friends!
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
