Created by Davis Yates (@summitninemedia), 540 Miles follows retired Coloradan, Dave Baumann, on his first bikepacking trip, segment-riding the 540-mile Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango. Dave takes a patient approach to his journey, absorbing the CT’s geology, scenery, challenges, and the people he met along the way, section by section.

According to the editor and cinematogrpher, Davis Yates, this documentary took 21 days to shoot, several months to edit, and gobbled up nearly two terabytes of footage and files. Shooting came with its own range of challenges, from tiring and long shooting days, late nights with little to no sleep, bike crashes, a self-inflicted drone injury, close calls with search and rescue, water shortages, and sore legs.
