“Bikepacking Georgia” is an entrancing 40-minute video from Henry and Mona Merk that delights viewers with an in-depth look at their ride of our Caucasus Crossing route in the Republic of Georgia. Filmed with a gentle approach that lets the sights and sounds of the dynamic route shine through, this one is well worth a watch…

It’s been up on YouTube since last June, but I only just came across Henry and Mona Merk’s wonderful 40-minute video from their bikepacking trip along our Caucasus Crossing route in the Republic of Georgia. Far from the high-energy music and manufactured drama that seem to dominate YouTube these days, their videos offer a calming immersion in the routes they ride. Rather than fast-paced editing and multiple layers of audio, they feature long shots with minimal narration or dialog, simply letting the sounds of nature and the journey tell the story.

Though this style may not be for everyone, I find it to be a refreshing change from the bulk of what’s out there, and it provides a far more realistic and comprehensive impression of what riders can expect on the route. I look forward to diving in to more of their videos soon, including a handful of others from our routes. You can watch Bikepacking Georgia below, followed by a small collection of still images from Henry and some related links from the Georgian segment of the Caucasus Crossing.
