The Cross-Washington Mountain Bike Route (XWA) is a 720-mile, mostly off-road, linear route that runs from the Pacific Ocean to the Idaho border. Chris Wilson and Rob rode it back in 2019 on their own and mentioned that it was a life-changing trip and a route that ultimately sealed their commitment to bikepacking. Because of that, they wanted to ride the XWA again in 2024, this time participating in the grand depart. This year’s group-ride event saw nearly 50 participants, and Chris made the following video to document the journey. Watch it below, and scroll down to learn more about the route and see a few photos Chris sent over.
Special thanks to Troy Hopwood for creating this route and for all the work involved in organizing these grand departs!
