Bikepacking Trans Germany (Video)
In April 2017 Lukas Winkelmann and Sven Garbe rode the Bikepacking Trans Germany, a 1000 mile route from Basel to Rügen. Along the way they made this impressive film capturing the route and their journey…
PUBLISHED Jun 14, 2017
Lukas and Sven met in Stuttgart, Germany, while studying aeronautical and aerospace engineering. They shared a common passion for videography and soon combined it with cycling. Bikepacking Trans Germany was their first bikepacking trip together. Watch the film below and then read more about the BTG as well as Lukas and Sven’s gear kits for the trip. NOTE: Although it’s mostly set to music, there are a couple voiceovers. If you are not a German speaker, and do not see subtitles, click the YouTube link in the video to watch with subtitles.

About Bikepacking Trans Germany
The 1,020 mile (1,642 KM) Bikepacking Trans Germany (BTG) runs southwest to northeast and was designed to take in the most beautiful and unknown parts of the German backcountry. The BTG follows fast rolling gravel roads with quite a few technical trails in between to explore the wild and remote parts of Germany with plenty of history along the trail if you take time for it. View the route guide here. There is also a group ride event on the route starting July 2nd.
