The Manistee Overnighter meanders through the northwest corner of Manistee National Forest in Michigan’s lower peninsula. Beginning at Nordhouse Dunes (arguably the best primitive camping in the state, right on the shore of Lake Michigan), the route passes through the charming, coastal town of Manistee before following the Little Manistee River, where you can either camp on a bluff overlooking the river, or down along its banks.

The Grand Island Overnighter is a short overnight escape on an Island. This loop features a quick ferry ride to access Grand Island and plenty of majestic views overlooking Lake Superior. Overgrown two track trails lead you through dense forests, sandy beaches and cliff side lookouts.

The North Country Trail stretches across the rolling terrain of Michigan’s lower peninsula, and much of the trail is open to bikes. The North Country Traverse route connects the best of those segments, linking singletrack with gorgeous forest roads and byways. It’s a fantastic 4-6 day adventure, offering remote trails, lush river corridors, old growth forest, and everything great about Northern Michigan.

The best of the North Country Trail’s 4600 miles parallels the crystal cool Manistee River, through the Pleasant Peninsula’s most picturesque National Forest. For a perfect weekend loop, ride singletrack draped over dune topography - amongst pine and hardwoods that invite open camping - before indulging in a lazy river return back again.
