Wolf Tooth just announced the World’s longest-travel dropper post at 242mm, as well as several other updates with their new Wolf Tooth Resolve Dropper Post rev2, including a new 34.9mm diameter and updated internals to optimize performance. Learn more here…
The Wolf Tooth Resolve Dropper Post rev2 got several updates since we reviewed the original Resolve Dropper Post. That includes a new 34.9 sizing, a 242mm travel option, and upgraded internal components. Otherwise, the Resolve rev2 has the same features as the original, including a self-bleeding cartridge, short insertion lengths, and minimal stack heights.
The Resolve rev2 introduces three key updates from the original design. First, it now includes a 34.9mm diameter, in addition to the existing 30.9 and 31.6mm sizes. Wolf Tooth states that the new 34.9mm version has a unique cartridge with a lower housing and stanchion, too.
Second, there is a new travel option of 242mm, making it the longest dropper currently available on the market by 2mm, although I’m guessing someone will soon try and one-up it (see what I did there?). The available travel options now include 125, 160, 200, and 242mm, and the rev2 retains the adjustable travel feature of its predecessor, allowing travel reduction in 5mm increments using spacers. This adjustability, combined with short insertion depth and stack height, allows for fitting a longer-travel dropper post in a shorter seat tube.
Third, some of the internal components have been updated. The self-bleeding function has been improved, a key feature of the Resolve rev2 that distinguishes it from other dropper posts. A new spool valve has been added, reducing the force needed from a dropper lever by 25% to open the valve, whether the saddle is weighted or not. This internal update is backward compatible with existing Resolve Dropper Posts for 125, 160, and 200mm travel. Customers can purchase the updated components and install them following the Wolf Tooth service guide.
The Resolve Dropper Post rev2 is covered by Wolf Tooth’s Right to Repair policy. All components used to make up the dropper post are available for purchase, and there are service guides available to help customers repair or modify the dropper post in their home workshop. For example, if the stanchion is damaged in a crash, customers can buy a new stanchion instead of a new dropper. Complete lower assemblies are also available, allowing conversion between different diameters, such as from 30.9mm to 31.6mm.
The new Wolf Tooth Resolve Dropper Post rev2 is now available on WolfToothComponents.com and through bike shops and distributors. Prices start at $349.95 USD. The existing Resolve Dropper Post rev1 is also available at a reduced price, starting at $279.95, which is 20% off the original price. Existing rev1 customers can purchase a rev2 conversion kit for $79.95.
