Recently launched UK brand Rune Bicycles just opened up pre-orders for their debut model, the Rufus Stone, which harmonizes classic styling and some modern specs. See more photos and details about the new 650B Rune Rufus Stone here…
We’ve been awaiting the formal launch of the Rufus Stone since UK-based Rune Bicycles appeared on our radar in May, and the wait for ordering framesets is now over. For a 40% deposit, buyers can reserve one of a limited number of Rufus Stones in the inaugural batch, which is set to be delivered in February 2024. Details are relatively scant, but Rune’s first model is a Taiwan-made, 650B-specific steel frameset that fits burly tires and beautifully blends old and new tech.
Built from 4130 Chromoly, the Rufus Stone features room for 650B x 2.3″ tires with fenders, a lugged headtube and seat cluster, front/rear flat mount brakes, thru-axles with 12×100 / 12x142mm spacing, a 68mm English threaded bottom bracket, a 1″ headtube with threaded fork, 1x or 2x drivetrain compatibility, and a 27.2mm seatpost diameter. It features a suite of braze-ons for racks, fenders, and bottles and has been ISO 4210 tested to a “city and trekking” safety standard.
We’re not sure just how limited the numbers in this first run will be, but they’re likely to sell out quickly. Rune is offering the Rufus Stone in Black or Mustard and in four sizes from 52cm up to 60cm. Framesets are priced at £1,250 ($1,590) including UK VAT, and a deposit of £500 ($635) is required to hold a spot in the pre-order.
