Sklar Bikes in California just received a shipment of their first production hardtail frame, the Tall Tale, as well as their new PBJ Handlebars. Both are available to order now. Find details here…
We already shared the details on Sklar Bikes’ transition from custom frames to production bikes and components, and it has been exciting to see what founder/owner Adam Sklar has done with this next chapter. This spring, pre-orders opened for the Tall Tale, Sklar’s first production hardtail mountain bike, and the shipment finally arrived from Taiwan yesterday. Some extra frames are up for grabs, as well as Sklar’s first production handlebar, the PBJ Bar. Find details on both below.
Sklar Tall Tale
The Sklar Tall Tale is inspired by the previously offered US-made Sweet Spot and is influenced by everything Adam has learned about progressive geometry and frame design, all packed into a versatile steel hardtail. It features Sklar’s trademark curved/ovalized top tube, an in-house-designed chainstay yoke, asymmetrical chainstays, size-specific fork travel ranging from 130mm to 150mm, and a frame optimized for 29 x 2.6″ tires.

The Tall Tale is offered in Pumpkin Pie (orange) and Kale Salad (green) as frame-only for $1,199 USD, as well as a frame/fork or one of many complete build packages. Check it out here.
Sklar PBJ Handlebar
The PBJ Handlebar is Sklar’s first production handlebar offering. It’s an aluminum riser bar that was specifically designed to pair with the Performance Basket Jammer frameset, suitable for all-day rides, touring, and more. It’s made from 7000-series aluminum, has a 31.8mm clamp diameter, 28° backsweep, 40mm rise, and an uncut width of 795mm. We’ve been testing one out for a few months now and can attest to its comfortable but shreddy silhouette.

The PBJ Handlebar has a slight forward curve, which Sklar says “keeps your hands not as far behind the stem as they would be on most other swept-back bars. This gives you the ergonomic feel of a sweepy bar while still playing nice with modern geometry MTBs and not having to run a super long stem.” The PBJ bar comes in polished silver or black and costs $118.
