Last month, the tire experts at Teravail officially expanded their product line to include rims, wheels, and tubeless valves. The launch focused on the gravel side of Teravail’s offerings and included the Circos carbon gravel rim, a new gravel tire, and fresh tubeless valves. We knew it was only a matter of time before this new chapter trickled down into Teravail’s mountain bike offerings. Today, Teravail is launching its first carbon mountain bike rim and wheel and three brand-new tire options to pair with them. Find details on everything below.
Teravail Fluent Carbon MTB Rim
The new Teravail Fluent is a carbon mountain bike rim optimized for Teravail’s expanding mountain bike tire lineup. It features a 30mm internal width (for ~2.2-2.5″ tires), front- and rear-optimized rim drilling for better spoke bracing angles, a hookless design with a thick flange for durability, and both 28 and 32-spoke options.
The Fluent rim weighs 450 grams, comes with a lifetime warranty, and is available as a complete wheelset paired with DT Swiss 350 hubs or as a rim only. Rim-only pricing, with your choice of spoke count and front or rear, costs $499 USD ($710 CAD). Complete wheels, which are hand-built at Teravail HQ in Minnesota, cost $599 USD ($850 CAD) for the front and $799 USD ($1,135 CAD) for the rear. Shop the rims here, and the complete wheels here.
Teravail Camrock Tire
The new Camrock tire is a high-speed cross-country tire with a low-profile linear tread pattern designed to carry speed and conform on XC-style terrain. The Camrock is tubeless-ready, has a fast rubber compound for low rolling resistance, and is available in two casing options. The Light Trail casing (710 grams) features a 1.5-ply, 120 TPI casing that conforms to the trail, saves weight, and offers bead-to-bead puncture protection. The Durable casing (795 grams) features a 1.5-ply, 60 TPI casing to protect against trail abrasion and sharp rocks. Both the Light Trail and Durable casing Camrock tires are available in black and tan wall versions, a single 29 x 2.4″ width option, and cost $80 US ($115 CAD) each. Learn more here.
Teravail Drawpoint Tire
The Teravail Drawpoint is a downcountry, all-purpose style of tire with fast-rolling center lugs and elevated shoulder lugs for playful riding and tight corners. It’s designed to be “stable and predictable,” according to Teravail, and is also available in a Light Trail and Durable casing, weighing in at 825 grams and 910 grams, respectively. It’s also offered in black or tan wall, a single 29 x 2.4″ size, and costs $80 USD ($115 CAD). Get yours here.
Teravail Clifty Tire
The Clifty is the most aggressive all-mountain tire lineup of the launch. It features a uniform lug sizing and spacing to maximize trail contact and interlocking shoulder and transition lugs to produce predictable traction. Offered in both a Grip or Grip Plus rubber compound, the Clifty isn’t offered in a Light Trail casing like the other two tires and is instead only available in a Durable (1,020 grams) or Durable Plus (1,220 grams) casing. The latter features a a two-ply, 120 TPI casing that defends against punctures and cuts and an apex wedge for more impact protection. The Clifty is available with a black or tan side wall, one 29 x 2.5″ size option, and costs $80 ($115 CAD) for the Durable version and $85 ($120 CAD) for the Durable Plus model. Learn more here.
