There are moments in life when your loved ones need you by their side. Moments in which, inevitably, you long for other times, other places, past adventures. Moments when simple short rides at dawn allow you to clear your mind, charge your batteries and be home early to give your best to those who need you. But even on those rides, you get to reconnect with the places that saw you take your first strokes, and you get to see them in a different way. That’s also adventure. Everyday adventure.

My friends recently flew out to Northern California to spring break away from a long Northern Michigan winter. I met them in San Francisco, where we packed our bikes in a closet-sized hotel room and rode north across the Golden Gate Bridge for our own slippery and soggy version of the “Triple Bay Crossover” route.
