We’re giving away an ultralight Western Mountaineering FlyLite sleeping bag for our 176th Collective Reward, and one lucky winner will receive a cozy 400-gram mummy bag in their choice of size. Find details on this and many other prize packages here…

My introduction to Western Mountaineering came back in 2009 when I was on the Colorado Trail with a cheap, off-brand sleeping bag that had me shivering every time I climbed in. After several sleepless nights, I went straight to a gear shop when I arrived in Breckenridge and forked over the money for a 30°F Western Mountaineering MegaLite bag. I slept like a baby for the remainder of the trip. The lightweight, exceptionally well-made bag has been my constant companion on bikepacking trips ever since, earning a spot as one of my all-time favorite pieces of gear.

Western Mountaineering FlyLite

Even lighter at just 14 ounces (~400 grams) and nearly as warm, the Western Mountaineering FlyLite strikes and almost unbelievable warmth-to-weight ratio with its 36°F (2°C) rating, making it ideal for packing easily and sleeping comfortably in a wide array of environments and seasons. Miles reviewed a FlyLite last year, and his time with it on trips around Australia and British Columbia had him wondering if it might be the perfect sleeping bag. Today, we’re thrilled to share that we’ll be giving away an orange FlyLite to one member of the Bikepacking Collective in their choice of size, a roughly $500 value for our lucky winner.

The US-made Western Mountaineering FlyLite is packed with premium 850+ fill power goose down and features a mummy hood, continuous baffles that allow you to shift down around for added insulation in cold weather, a half-length #3 YKK zipper that balances weight with user-friendliness, an insulated draft tube that blocks cold air, and a light and breathable 10D nylon taffeta outer shell. It packs down to 5 x 10″ and comes with an ultralight stuff sack and a breathable mesh storage bag. The FlyLite is available in three sizes: 5’6″ (165cm), 6’0″ (180cm), and 6’6″ (200cm). As with all Western Mountaineering products, it comes with a lifetime guarantee against manufacturer’s defects. You can learn more about the FlyLite over at WesternMountaineering.com.
