Sam and Luke, aka the Garbage Bag Boys, are student paramedics from Melbourne, Australia, who are ditching their routine for an around-the-world bikepacking trip from Vietnam to Spain. Learn more about their journey, their Curve GMX+ Steel bikes, and which of our routes they’ll be following here…
Words by Ollie Jones of Curve Cycling
Sam and Luke, better known as the Garbage Bag Boys, are two young Melbourne-based student paramedics who aren’t shy of a night shift or trekking off the beaten track. Their last adventure took them the length of India, and in the search for keeping things as cost-effective as possible, often sleeping in garbage bags.
Now, they’re returning for season two. This time, they’ve been drawn to a bigger adventure: leaving behind the comfort of their Melbourne lives and riding their steel touring bikes around the world. As they go, they’ll take in some of the best bikepacking routes they could find and experience life from the saddle.
Sam and Luke will load all their belongings onto a pair of Curve GMX+ Steel Touring Flat Bar builds, adventure bikes inspired by the original overlanders that have seen an astronomical amount of rigorous testing kilometers under the steam of the Curve team. Since the bike comes standard with a SRAM Apex Eagle groupset with a seriously extensive range of gears and 2.6-inch-wide rubber, there won’t be much getting in these boys’ way!
Be sure to head over to Curve to read more about the Garbage Bag Boys adventure, check in on their progress, and read all about the new GMX+ Steel Touring!
A huge thank you to Tailfin, Sram Australia, Terra Rosa Gear and K-Lite for coming on board and supporting the Garbage Bag Boys and Curve on this project!
