This morning’s edition of Weekend Snapshot shares a glimpse at what folks in Colorado, Spain, and Utah were up to during their recent time off, including a handful of beginners taking on their first trips close to home and in faraway locales. Find them all and use the quick form to share a photo from one of your rides here…

As usual, today’s Weekend Snapshot shines a little light on several community members who were recently out riding and camping in various corners of the world. This time around, we join for an approachable overnighter in Colorado, a first-time bikepacking trip in sunny Spain, and a rugged adventure shared by a group of women in Utah. Check out all three below, then scroll a bit further to find some related posts from the archive and a short form you can use to contribute to a future edition of Weekend Snapshot.

Denver, Colorado

Front Range Overnighters Club is a social club in the Front Range area of Colorado created to bring bikepackers and bikepacking-curious folks together to meet new riding friends, share routes, gear/strategy tips, and anything related to bikepacking. Last Saturday, a dozen of us rode from downtown Denver to the “beaches” of Chatfield State Park, gateway to Waterton Canyon and the start of the Colorado Trail for a social ride and picnic. It was a great experience, and we’ll host some more of these rides in addition to some overnighters in the near future.

Castilie la Mancha, Spain

My friend and I had some time off from uni this April and decided to cycle a part of the Altravesur, which was our first big bikepacking trip! It was hard, and we experienced so much. A true adventure! Every morning when we got on the bike, we would sing “On the Road Again” by Willie Nelson. The country music was somehow fitting for the landscapes of southern Spain.

Utah

Weekend Snapshot

The weather was not friendly to us, but the 155-mile loop led us into some of the most indescribable and mind-blowing landscapes Utah has to offer. We used the Stonehouse Loop found here on BIKEPACKING.com but shaved off 45 miles, did two water caches that were recommended, wore all the clothes we brought, and tried to hide from the wind. At the end of the day, setting the tent up was more like flying a kite, but we would do it all over again!
