Join us for a quick spin around the forests surrounding Berlin, the colorful streets of Oaxaca, and the banks of the Dnipro River outside Kyiv. Once you’ve caught up on this week’s crowdsourced vignettes, keep scrolling to find some related posts from our deep well of content and a form you can use to share a photo from one of your rides.
Germany
By Josh Meissner
Over Christmas, Berlin gets quiet, and the surrounding countryside gets even quieter. Nothing to do except ride bikes, letting the diverse textures of flat Brandenburg imprint on me and saying Good Night to an eventful year.
Kyiv, Ukraine
By Volodymyr Pankevych
A first slow ride on the first day of 2025 aboard my Kona Unit. The weather was unexpectedly warm for our usual climate—some kind of present for cyclists and a good start to the year. This area looks suburban, but it’s within the city boundaries on the Dnipro River.
Oaxaca, Mexico
By Cass Gilbert
A bike-against-wall photo is pretty much de rigueur for any tour in Oaxaca, given the number of bright and colourful backdrops in every village you’ll ride through. I’ve passed this trippy set of doors on many occasions but never stopped in front of them until now. They seemed like the perfect backdrop for a photo of Ben, who owns a garage door installation business in far away Bournemouth, and his dusty Stooge Dirt Tracker, along with Scotty and his Surly ECR. Both are friends from the UK and regulars at the Woods Cyclery. This is Scotty’s first time outside Europe, and a few weeks ago, he started his solo journey south from Mexico City, following the Trans Mexico all the way here. Last year, Ben visited us and borrowed a bike. This time, he arrived with this beauty of a build from The Woods Cyclery, which could well be the ideal steed for Oaxaca’s dirt roads, both mechanically and aesthetically!
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
