Our first Weekend Snapshot of the year brings us to Colorado, Germany, and Virginia, where we check in with three folks from our global community of bikepackers who made the most of moderate winter weather to get out and ride. Peek at their trips and find a link to share images from your two-wheeled escapes here…
We’re setting our intention for a year filled with time on the bike by starting off 2023 with a diverse trio of Weekend Snapshots. This time around, we travel to the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Colorado Front Range, and Germany’s largest desert. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to consider sharing a photo from one of your trips this year, whether it’s a simple day ride or a multi-month expedition. You can do so using the form at the bottom of any Weekend Snapshot post.

A scene from a recent ride along the lower sections of the Blue Ridge Wrangler route. It was cold but fun!
Colorado

With a significant snowstorm and weeks of cold weather on the horizon, I got out for my final day ride of 2022 to soak up some sun and pedal a few new trails beyond the city with a friend, enjoying some beautifully clear views of the Rockies.
Brandenburg, Germany

Following Christmas, we escaped Berlin to say goodnight to 2022 by the sand dunes around Lieberoser Wüste. It’s more of steppe than the desert that its name would imply. Nature is reclaiming the former training ground of the Soviet military, turning it into the largest contiguous wilderness in Germany.
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: we prefer 3:2 ratio landscape oriented photos.
