World Ready with Mark and Hana in the Americas
A new short film showcasing Mark Watson and Hana Black’s 45,000 kilometer bikepacking trip from Alaska to Argentina…
PUBLISHED Oct 24, 2018
Mark Watson and Hana Black are currently cycling the entire length of the Americas—from the top of Alaska to the southern tip of Argentina. Much of their journey has been on massive off-road bikepacking routes such as the Great Divide, Baja Divide, the Trans Ecuador Mountain Bike Route, and their own Ruta Maya de los Cuchumatanes. Since beginning their trip in August of 2016, they’ve racked up over 45,000 kilometers and experienced incredible locations and cultures that would otherwise be next to impossible to access. One of their sponsors, Kathmandu, just put together this short film that beautifully captures their journey and the philosophy that drives them:
To be able to go out and explore continents on a bicycle enables you to get another layer deeper into other societies. You’re always aware of what’s happening… the subtle changes in the landscape as they take place, as you move from mountains to desert to jungle… I believe it’s the ultimate way to travel.
Find their feature story “Head Space” in Issue 01 of The Bikepacking Journal, and check out their recently published route guide through Guatemala, Ruta Maya de los Cuchumatanes.
