From snowy Wyoming and Switzerland to steamy Texas, our readers were once again out pedaling around their backyards and beyond over the weekend. We zoom in on three of their trips for today’s edition of Weekend Snapshot. Find them all below, followed by a short form you can use to submit a scene of your own and a small collection of related route guides to help you plan future adventures.

Texas

Weekend Snapshot

By Thomas Ronge

Before the days in Texas are getting too hot—we already reached 90°F last week—we decided to go on a weekend trip to the Sam Houston National Forest. Pulling into camp on a secluded lake in the forest, we were joined by a friend and his nine-year-old daughter on their first bikepacking trip. We fell asleep to the sound of yipping coyotes and woke up to woodpeckers, the dawn chorus, and “sea smoke” on the lake. Can absolutely recommend this Texas gem: 13/10!

Wyoming

A 10-mile groomed route following Granite Creek ends at Granite Hot Springs, where riders can soak and enjoy wonderful views of the Gros Ventre Wilderness. While this ride was on the weekend, I prefer weekdays, when the trail is mostly free of snowmobile traffic. There’s a wonderful waterfall on a spur trail near the top that many miss—just keep right and look for the secret hippy dip!

Switzerland

Lac de Mauvoisin on day three of the Tour De Combin. A navigational error meant we wouldn’t finish the route in our intended three days, meaning an extra night on the hill.
