Every Monday morning, Weekend Snapshot serves up a little dose of reader-submitted inspiration, and it often gets us itching to get out to ride and camp ourselves. As such, this time around, we’re sharing a collection of vignettes from the team, highlighting what several of us got up to in our recent time away. Find scenes from Colorado, British Columbia, and North Carolina below, followed by some related posts from the archive and a quick form you can use to share a shot from one of your rides.
North Carolina

While out scouting for a bigger regional route, I took the opportunity to explore some lesser-known trails in the Cherokee and Pisgah National Forests. I found narrow, raw singletrack, big gravel climbs, and an epic firetower in a region hit hard by Hurricane Helene.
British Columbia

The second annual Slow Coast event, organized primarily by Emily but supported by me, took place over a recent weekend. A group of nearly 50 riders joined us in qathet on the Sunshine Coast to ride a three-day route, linking Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast together via Quadra Island, Cortes Island, and a private boat charter and ferries. It was a fabulous weekend, and we were able to donate over $2,500 to local advocacy groups doing good work in the area.
Colorado

In an effort to keep the routes I’ve created and published on BIKEPACKING.com up to date, I’ve been checking back in on some older ones. Last month, my buddy Eric and I rode the Tilton Traverse, a beautiful yet challenging overnighter north of Gunnison. The route offers a mix of dirt roads, two-track, and plenty of tough but super fun singletrack. We dealt with a bit of smoke during our trip before a steady rain moved in, cleared the air, and cooled things down. Best of all, it was quality time with a friend—something I wish I could do more often.

The weather is finally cooling here in North Carolina, making it the perfect time to get out on some overnighters. While the bears have been restless this year, it’s nice to get out on some local trails and enjoy near-perfect conditions.
